If I had to reduce my identity as a graphic designer to one sentence, it would be this - “poet at mind, accountant at heart.”
Poetry is about using metaphor and simile to speak about intangible, invisible things. In all of my illustrative work - logos, icons, spot illustrations - I’m using metaphor to tell a story.
But, design isn’t just art. It’s commercial art. It’s meant to serve a purpose. It’s intended to help a company reach their goals. When I say I’m an accountant at heart, I mean that I like to hold all of my work accountable to the desired result. Sometimes that means compromising on aesthetics to make sure something works.
That relationship between achieving goals and making art is what I love about working with clients. I’m thrilled when my work empowers yours.
